Da nun eine solche, nämlich die intellectuelle Anschauung, schlechterdings außer unserem Erkenntnißvermögen liegt, so kann auch der Gebrauch der Kategorien keinesweges über die Grenze der Gegenstände der Erfahrung hinausreichen; und den Sinnenwesen correspondiren zwar freilich Verstandeswesen, auch mag es Verstandeswesen geben, auf welche unser sinnliches Anschauungsvermögen gar keine Beziehung hat, aber unsere Verstandesbegriffe, als bloße Gedankenformen für unsere sinnliche Anschauung, reichen nicht im mindesten auf diese hinaus; was also von uns Noumenon genannt wird, muß als ein solches nur in negativer Bedeutung verstanden werden.
