Supposing the concept causa sui absurd, the external world is not the work of our organs, a sentence the text closes with a question mark
Supposing that the concept causa sui is something thoroughly absurd, the external world is not the work of our organs, a sentence the text closes with a dash and a question mark.
Dies ist, wie mir scheint, eine gründliche reductio ad absurdum: gesetzt, dass der Begriff causa sui etwas gründlich Absurdes ist. Folglich ist die Aussenwelt nicht das Werk unsrer Organe -?
This is, as it seems to me, a thorough reductio ad absurdum: supposing that the concept causa sui is something thoroughly absurd. Consequently the external world is not the work of our organs -?
The last two sentences of JGB 15. The conclusion is drawn by »Folglich« and ends with a dash and a question mark, »-?«; the map keeps the supposition, »gesetzt, dass der Begriff causa sui etwas gründlich Absurdes ist«, inside the statement, since the text makes the reductio depend on it, and carries the closing mark into the statement itself. The map reads that mark as leaving the conclusion put to the reader rather than withdrawn, and so treats the chain as an argument Nietzsche makes; whether he makes it or stands away from it is a reading, the map's own, for which it names no literature, and a dispute may contest it or ask for the two readings to be set out as r- nodes. What the text asserts of the causa sui in its own voice is in JGB 21, »der beste Selbst-Widerspruch, der bisher ausgedacht worden ist« (c-nietzsche-causa-sui-best-self-contradiction); the map does not carry that assertion into this claim, which stays under its supposition. Established by a-nietzsche-external-world-not-work-of-organs. The sentence names no one; the »Andere« who say the external world is the work of our organs are not identified, and no Kant or Schopenhauer statement in the map says it (x-thing-in-itself, the row on the subject's work).
