Supposing all working force could be determined as will to power, the world seen from inside would be will to power and nothing besides
Supposing that one succeeded in explaining our entire drive-life as the development and ramification of one basic form of the will, the will to power, and supposing that one could trace all organic functions back to this will to power and found in it also the solution of the problem of procreation and nutrition, then one would have acquired the right to determine all working force unambiguously as will to power; the world seen from inside, determined and designated according to its "intelligible character", would be will to power and nothing besides.
Supposing finally that one succeeded in explaining our entire drive-life as the development and ramification of one basic form of the will – namely of the will to power, as is my proposition [reading »mein Satz« for the transcription's »in ein Satz«] –; supposing that one could trace all organic functions back to this will to power and found in it also the solution of the problem of procreation and nutrition – it is one problem –, then one would thereby have acquired the right to determine all working force unambiguously as: will to power. The world seen from inside, the world determined and designated according to its "intelligible character" – it would be precisely "will to power" and nothing besides.
Jenseits von Gut und Böse. Vorspiel einer Philosophie der Zukunft Zweites Hauptstück, 36 (close)
JGB 36, last two sentences: »Gesetzt endlich, dass es gelänge, unser gesammtes Triebleben als die Ausgestaltung und Verzweigung Einer Grundform des Willens zu erklären - nämlich des Willens zur Macht ... so hätte man damit sich das Recht verschafft, alle wirkende Kraft eindeutig zu bestimmen als: Wille zur Macht. Die Welt von innen gesehen, die Welt auf ihren "intelligiblen Charakter" hin bestimmt und bezeichnet - sie wäre eben "Wille zur Macht" und nichts ausserdem.« The statement keeps the conditional form of the passage (»Gesetzt ... so hätte man«, »sie wäre«). Whether Nietzsche asserts the consequent is contested in the literature and the map does not decide it: r-nietzsche-will-to-power-asserted and r-nietzsche-will-to-power-not-asserted. »intelligibler Charakter« stands in the passage in quotation marks; no Kant or Schopenhauer passage in the map carries the term, and the map does not say what Nietzsche means by it beyond the sentence.
